to enjoy with a meal does not have to be an Olympic feat and should not break
the bank. Choosing a wine is a way to invite the world to your table.
We enjoy food as much
as we enjoy wine. In this section, you will find a selection of
recipes that we have found great food and wine matches. And it goes
without saying that you can contact us to provide wine suggestions for
your menu.

Food with Wine
The Savvy Grapes' Rules
of Thumb
Toss
out the rule that white wine should be served with chicken and fish while
red wine goes with red meat.
Fish, chicken and meat are a canvas for the chef (that is you!). We recommend to focus on selecting a wine that complements the
flavours of the sauce, spices or marinade.
Focus
on the origin of the food.
Wine
has been crafted for centuries to accompany regional food; Italian wine goes well with Italian cuisine. Pairing the country of origin
for both the food and wine is a natural fit.
An
exception to this tip is Asian food. With its complex flavours and ingredients, we recommend
at Gewürztraminer white wine as it is refreshing, aromatic, full bodied and matches
well with exotic Asian spices.
Look
to balance the food and wines.
If you are having a
big juicy steak, go with a
big ‘chewy’ red wine like Shiraz or a Cabernet Sauvignon. A lighter fare like Sole Almondine fish dish would be nice with
a lighter white wine like Pinot Grigio or Sancerre.
