Windsurfer
Squares
with Wine
Suggestions
Serves 8-12 (as an
appetizer)
The
Savvy Grapes Sommeliers have lots of fun working with wines...yet,
our lives aren't all about wine! At our summer team party, we found out
that a number of us like to spend our spare time in the summer by the
water. Jean
Sebastien, is an avid windsurfer, Debbie
loves to sail and Susan
enjoys reading on her dock.
This
recipe is one that has been shared with friends who love to cook,
entertain and most of all...enjoy the water!
The
Savvy Grapes wine suggestion:
White
Wine - Riesling
Rieslings
tend to be light with slight sweet tastes. With aromas of citrus (grapefruit
perhaps?), sweet melons that is refreshing on the palate.
Specific wines to try: Cave Springs
Riesling VQA, Niagara, at LCBO $13
Huff
Estates Off Dry Riesling, Prince Edward County VQA $14.95 (contact The
Savvy Grapes to arrange a shipment
directly from winery).
Other
countries that have Rieslings...be on the look out for wines from:
-
New
Zealand
-
Australia
-
Germany
-
Alsace
France
