Rosemary & Goat
Cheese Crostinis
with Wine
Suggestions
One of Debbie's signature
recipes that she prepared on Rogers TV Channel 22, March 19, 2007. Enjoy!
The
Savvy Grapes wine suggestion:
This appetizer is very versatile and matches well with sparkling, white
and red wines.
White
Wine - Viognier, France
France's secret grape variety – Viognier.
The
French often keep Viognier for themselves & little is exported. California
and Australia are now introducing some products. Viognier is typically a medium bodied wine with apricot, floral and honey
aromas and flavours.
Riesling,
Germany or Canada
Riesling is often thought of as a
sweet wine, however that is not necessarily so. Typically a crisp with
green apple aromas and flavours, this wine has a nice acidity that is
balanced by the grape's residual sugar. Rieslings
to try: Vineland
Estates Semi Dry Riesling or Dry Riesling
Red Wine:
Beaujolais,
France or Gamay, Canada
Beaujolais is made with Gamay grapes. Bright red in colour with
vibrant cherry and strawberry aromas. The flavour continues with red fruit
tastes, making this an easy to drink wine.
Enjoyed at room temperature or slightly chilled. Beaujolais
to try: Georges
DuBoeuf, France

1 french baguette
Liquid honey
2-3 sprigs of fresh rosemary, finely chopped
Soft goat cheese
Slice
baguette into 1/4 inch rounds. Arrange on a un-greased cookie sheet.
Spread
honey on the surface of each round.
Sprinkle
with rosemary.
Spread
goat cheese evenly on top of rosemary.
Broil in oven for 1- 2
minutes until toasts or cheese begins to brown. Be sure to watch
this very carefully as they can quickly burn! Serve immediately.
