Lemon and Apple Chicken Stirfry
Serves 4

“Pairing wine and recipes is a real team effort. All of the staff gets together for a meal to try the new recipe with the selected wine.  With the comments, we tweak the recipe before we offer it to our customers or include it on the patio lunch menu,” explains AJ McLaughlin of Angels Gate Winery located in Beamsville, Ontario.

This recipe was created to pair with Angels Gate Old Vines Chardonnay.  It is delicious!  Some of Angels Gate wines are available in wine shops.  It would be The Savvy Grapes pleasure to provide suggestions of Angels Gate wines including their Old Vines Chardonnay to have delivered to you. 3 tablespoons of oil
1 chicken breast, skinned, boned and cut into 1" cubes
1/2 lb Chinese snow pea pods or green beans
3 scallions, green part only, cut into 1" lengths
2 apples, peeled, cored and sliced

Cooking Sauce
In a small bowl combine:
3 tablespoons of water
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 tablespoons of grated lemon rind
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 or 3 cloves minced garlic
2 teaspoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of cornstarch
2 teaspoons of fresh ginger, minced or grated


  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in large skillet or wok. 
  2. Add chicken cubes and stir fry over high heat for 2 minutes. Transfer chicken to plate.
  3. Add remaining oil and stir fry snow peas one minute over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add cooked chicken, scallions, apples and Cooking Sauce.
  5. Stir fry until mixture is heated through and sauce is glossy, about 3 minutes.
  6. Serve with steamed rice or Asian vermicelli noodles.
