Toasting Talent In February 2005, we invited Ottawa to take a break from winter and join The Savvy Grapes for a one of a kind evening of Canadian wines and gourmet food. Toasting Talent celebrated the achievements Winemaker Natalie Spytkowsky from Angels Gate Winery, Industry Pioneer and Grape Grower Donna Lailey of Lailey Vineyard, and Winemaker Beth Mischuk of Kacaba Winery all from the Niagara wine region. The dinner menu was created by internationally acclaimed chef, Willi Wetscher, of the Crowne Plaza Ottawa. Each of the five courses were paired with signature wines from the featured wineries. MENU During the dinner Natalie Spytkowski, Donna Lailey and Beth Mischuk presented their wines and provided information and insight about their vineyard and wine style and shared personal stories about life as a winemaker in a rapidly growing industry. Toasting Talent Tasting Room The evening concluded with a Tasting Room where the guests had the opportunity to sample other wines made by the three featured wineries. Most of these wines are not available at the LCBO, so at Toasting Talent the guests had the opportunity to taste, discuss and order wines directly from the winemaker.
