The Savvy Grapes has many formats to explore food & wine:
|
Join Accredited Sommeliers Susan Desjardins & Debbie Trenholm as they lead you through an interactive wine tasting that will test your palette. The name of each wine will be hidden giving you the opportunity to identify (or guess!) the grape variety of each of the wines in the selection. No doubt, this blind wine tasting will lead to spirited discussions throughout the night. Again
this year, Susan is raising funds for breast cancer.
All proceeds from this event will contribute to the purchase of
state-of-the-art equipment that is used in the diagnosis of breast cancer.
One of the Queensway-Carleton Hospital
surgeons who will be using this
life saving equipment, Neoprobe
Bluetooth, will be at the event to answer your questions. Everyone,
regardless of your wine knowledge will enjoy this fun and interactive wine
tasting. This
event is designed to put the FUN into fundraising.
Tickets
may be purchased through The Savvy Grapes
Award winning Chef David Cooke, of Arowhon Pines Resort, will prepare gourmet nibbles paired with each mystery wine. Three local artists, Patricia Josteen, Suzanne Caron-Richer & Judith Miller, (two of whom are breast cancer survivors), will display their artworks in the bookstore. Our generous sponsors & local artists are helping to raise funds with their donation of door prizes. And
during this evening, every book purchased at the Nicholas
Hoare Bookstore will contribute to the fundraising goal.

More
about Neoprobe Bluetooth technology... The Neoprobe is used in a procedure called Intraoperative Lymphatic
Mapping (ILM). A radioactive tracing agent is injected at the site
of a primary tumour, and the Neoprobe detects the path this tracing agent
takes through the lymphatic system. With this method, a surgeon can
quickly and non-invasively determine if the cancer has spread, or is
localized to the site of the primary tumor. In situations where ILM
and Neoprobe were not available, surgeons often felt obliged to remove
many or all lymph nodes in the area surrounding the tumor, in order to
mitigate against the spread of the cancer. This invasive surgery
often created significant complications, while not necessarily offering
conclusive results. Your involvement in this fundraiser is taking the
necessary steps toward ensuring that Neoprobe Bluetooth equipment is
available at the
