The Tastes of Tuscany A Special Winemaker's Dinner *The Savvy Grapes* featured Tuscan winemaker, Luca Vitali from Croce di Bibbiano Winery and Lonardi Winery. For the last two Octobers, The Savvy Grapes Accredited Sommelier, Debbie Trenholm, worked with Luca during the grape harvest at Croce di Bibbiano Winery. Luca is passionate about his Tuscan heritage and winemaking style. He is focused on creating traditional Chiantis, Amarones and Super Tuscan wines with Tuscan heritage grape varieties. Croce di Bibbiano is guarded by the medieval towers of San Gimignano, just 45 minutes south west of Florence in the heart of Tuscany. The property was once owned by Franciscan monks and now the monastery ruins have been transformed into the operations of the winery, wine cellar, tasting room and seven agrotourism apartments where tourists stay on the premise to experience life at a winery. For this winemaker's dinner, Chef Matthew Morazain of Frescocielo Restaurant created a Tuscan inspired five course menu. During the dinner, Luca presented his red wines that were paired with each course, provided insight about his vineyards and shared personal stories about life as a Tuscan winemaker.
