Switching Gears with a Little Help
My Brilliant Career Feature Article in Financial Post Section - by Mary Teresa Bitti, National Post, July 2, 2005

Excerpts from article:
Debbie Trenholm was at a crossroads. After 15 years in high tech, marketing and building companies internationally, she needed a change. "I was struggling," she says. "I needed to think about what I enjoy doing and where I could best use my skills."

In Ms. Trenholm's case, all her international travel had provided her with the opportunity to explore new cultures and cuisines. To better appreciate the wines she was enjoying, she became an accredited sommelier. "It was a personal interest that has led to a new career," says Ms. Trenholm, co-founder of The Savvy Grapes Inc., a wine marketing company in Ottawa. "I was able to use my marketing skills in an entirely different industry. I couldn't be happier."

Wining and Dining
The Savvy Grapes venture matches vintages with exquisite haute cuisine - by Denis Armstrong, The Ottawa Sun, February 9, 2005

Excerpts from article:
Eat, drink and be merry is the delicious plan behind The Savvy Grapes, where, at their events you learn to dine like a sommelier, one meal at a time.  At a recent winemakers dinner, Toasting Talent, featuring three women winemakers from Niagara, Nero never ate so well.  Between courses, the topic of conversation is wine, wine, food and more wine.

"Wine extends the flavour of the food", explains Tonya Lailey of Lailey Vineyards (one of the wineries featured).  "It's all about stretching the pleasure."

"The history of the wine and the way it was matched to the food enhanced the experience, " explained guest Lisa Baroldi, "I want to do it again."

Agents of Change
Job finders, headhunters and career coaches - by Mary Teresa Bitti, Canadian Family Magazine, April 2005
Excerpt from article:
But what if you want a change but are unsure of the direction? That's the predicament Ottawa businesswoman Debbie Trenholm found herself in.  "I knew my business development and marketing experience would benefit other industries."
